The owner of this beautiful Yellowfin called us after experiencing water build up in his fuel filters. Of course this is something we have heard many times before! No problem… right?
Well, this is a Yellowfin – an awesome boat but not really designed for access to the fuel tanks. Unfortunately the only approach to removing contamination from a tank with no access is through the fuel supply line. That’s exactly what we had to do in this situation.
Although we were not able to move around inside the tank to vacuum the floor, we were able to remove most of the water through the fuel line. We removed 3 gallons of water in total.
Any remaining water would be caught in the fuel filters.
Tip: It’s always a good idea to carry extra fuel filters on board. They may not be designed to handle 3 gallons of water but can catch small amounts of water very well.
