Big beautiful boat… big horrifying mistake! As we all know, sometimes mistakes happen and so does the captain of this 68′ Viking after realizing that gasoline was mistakenly added to his diesel fuel tanks.
Unfortunately, the best solution for this condition is to pump out all of the contaminated diesel fuel for disposal. Gasoline added to diesel fuel is a much bigger issue than diesel fuel added to a gasoline fuel tank. The diesel fuel properties can be greatly altered by the very volatile gasoline and therefore can induce major engine problems. This captain did not want to take any chance whatsoever and insisted the all fuel was to be pumped out.
Luckily the engines were not started, so we removed all of the fuel on board and had the boat refueled with… diesel fuel.
Tip: Slow down at the fuel dock. Have a second set of eyes around for confirmation. If a mistake happens, don’t start the engine. Call Allpure Filtration 239 540-8550
