After this 32′ Boston Whaler sat unused for two years, the owner called Allpure Filtration to have the fuel quality analyzed. Even though a fuel additive was used, the owner did not like the look of the fuel in the fuel filter.
Upon further inspection we found that the fuel was flat, dark in color and not salvageable. We cleaned the fuel tank and removed all of the flat, old fuel for disposal. Furthermore, 1/2 gallon of water was also removed from the tank floor.
Tip: If your boat has been stored all season, keep a close eye on your fuel filters. Inspect the contents multiple times not only for signs of flat fuel or low octane levels but also water accumulation.
