After sitting for 3 years, this Hurricane 22′ deck boat needed some attention. The owner contacted us for an appointment, and as you can imagine we all expected the old fuel to be really bad.
Access to the fuel tank was gained through the sender in the rear of the boat and, yes, that old fuel was really bad! The color was very dark, the oder was very flat, and you might say that there was a little “varnishing” smell brewing. Water was also found on the floor of the tank which is not uncommon.
We cleaned the tank itself and then pumped out all of the fuel for disposal. Additionally we purged the fuel line from the tank to the fuel filter assembly and found that the filter had corroded so much that is was froze to the filter housing. The complete filter assemble was replaced.
