Fact: If it’s on your boat, it will have to be serviced at some point in time. Rubber seals and o-ring gaskets used in fuel systems will lose their effectiveness after time, especially in our hot Florida climate. The owner of this 20′ Seaswirl had to be towed in after the engine stalled due to water contamination.
I removed two gallons of water from the tank because two seals failed and allowed rain water and condensation to accumulate in the fuel tank. I recommend having your fuel tank floor cleaned and the seals checked every two to three years depending on use. Be safe out there!
